*Illinois State Museum Artisans Program. This is a Juried selection of artists that are chosen to sell their work in 4 different shops in State Museums in Illinois. These locations include Chicago, Springfield, Rend Lake, and Dixon Mounds area. They take a 50/50 commission, but if you are accepted, it is a great honor, so I suggest taking the chance to sell your items state wide. *’Aprons Through the Ages’ Exhibit (3/4/2008-3/28/2008) Cedarhurst Center for the Arts presents a mixed media exhibit by Marie Samuel in the spirit of early quilters and their assorted materials. This show should be very interesting for those interested in textiles, history, or visually appealing things.
*The 30th Annual Purchase awards are just about here and all students
should know about this. Sponsored by SPC and The Student Center.
-What are the Purchase Awards?
-It is an annual art competition and show. SIUC students enter their work into the show by bringing it to the assigned ballroom in the
student center at the designated times. All the work is judged, and then the selected pieces (about 25) are accepted into the show. Of the
artworks selected one or two are chosen as winners. The winners are announced at the reception and are purchased at the artists’ asking
price, to become part of the Student Centers permanent collection.
